NORDIC COFFEE CULTURE

The people in the Nordic countries like their cup of coffee, more than anything else in the world. It’s the only thing that brings hygge to their lives. But they like to have it in black. From waking up in the morning till they go to their bed, they keep on finishing the cup of coffee one after another. They believe that coffee brings joy and happiness to their life; even it helps them to think and see things with clarity of mind. For them, a cup of filter coffee is the best companion of a man. One can have it in aloofness or can enjoy with friends or even in social gatherings. The Nordic conversation starts only after few hot sips of their favorite drink.


The importance and value that a Nordic person gives to their filter coffee, is just unique and extraordinary. But the fact is, they really don’t know how and from when this Nordic coffee culture had started to take effect or intervene their lives. It becomes an indispensable part of their life. They are proud of their culture and they believe black filter coffee runs in their veins. Among the Nordic countries, Finland ranks top in the category of annual coffee consumption.
Other than these, there are some interesting facts that one must know about the Nordic coffee culture. Here are a few points you must know.
Nordic coffee is conquering the world with joy due to their rich coffee culture. There is a Scandinavian style espresso bar in Brooklyn, New York, where they feature roasted coffee from all over the Nordic region. In London, there is a bakery called Nordic bakery, they serve Nordic coffee in and around the city. The same kind of coffee houses is coming up in almost every big town around the world. 
Among the Nordic countries, though Finland occupies the top position but interestingly once the coffee was banned in Finland. There was wrong notion that coffee could harm the economy, fertility and work productivity of a man.
The Nordic people don’t like decaffeinated coffee. They like the caffeine in the coffee. So, Nordic coffees are quite strong then its North American counterparts.
The Norwegians created the first format of the international Barista championship. It was held in the year 2000 in Monaco.  And interestingly, Nordic baristas had their dominance in the early championships. 
In Iceland, one of the Nordic countries had a superstition that, if someone drinks a piping hot coffee he or she becomes very ugly. On the other hand, colder coffee can make someone very attractive and pretty. They also believed that if the cream is put in the coffee before the sugar then he or she would not get married for next seven years.
Coffee is an integral part of the Scandi style living. They love it the most. But the time has changed; now their main aim is to make their coffee up to date and number one coffee in the world. They are trying their best to bring out the subtle flavor of their coffee. They have realized that their style of coffee making has to be changed and it will be unhealthy for the health of the Nordic coffee culture if they try to stick to their old ways. They have realized, change is the call of the hour. After all, it’s such a strong old rich culture and their stupendous heritage, they need to preserve, upgrade and show the entire world how much they are proud of it.
